FAQs

Successful cloud computing professionals firstly require a comprehensive knowledge of key cloud and business concepts. They need to know how cloud platforms are designed, deployed, and maintained; along with the best ways of migrating data onto the cloud with minimal business disruption. An understanding of its business benefits is also necessary, allowing you to help companies make the right decisions when adopting such services.

Additionally, having an expertise in cyber security can equip you with the best practices in securing cloud environments. With the technology often sought after for its heightened data security, skills in implementing this protection are a must.

Of course, the right soft skills are also crucial. Cloud computing professionals are typically expected to be excellent communicators, as they’re often turned to by companies for migration and vendor-related advice. Being adaptive to change is also a key trait, with the field subject to constant new developments.

AIICT’s cloud computing course will explore the cloud environments of industry’s three leading providers: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. Training will include practical “cloud labs” that can help you gain hands-on experience in navigating these platforms, building your portfolio for future employment.

Additionally, through our internationally-recognised CompTIA course, students will also delve into field essentials such as:

  • Cloud security

  • Cloud compliance

  • Cloud management and operations

  • Key cloud concepts and business principles

  • Risk management

Cloud computing refers to the delivery of IT-related services over the internet – these including software, servers, databases, data storage, and network tools or systems. The technology has rapidly grown in demand for its ability to eliminate on-premise hardware costs (i.e. onsite data centres and physical servers), offer scalable investment options (meaning you only pay for as much service as you need), strengthen data security, and improve overall workplace productivity.

Through cloud computing services, businesses are able to migrate all their data and processes online – making resources more easily accessible and offloading the necessary maintenance work form their in-house IT teams to their cloud service provider.

There are three types of cloud environments:

Public cloud, in which cloud-related services are owned by third-party vendors, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.

Private cloud, in which cloud computing resources are used exclusively by a single organisation – typically through an on-site data centre, though some third-party service providers may also be able to host a business’ private cloud.

Hybrid cloud, a combination of the previous two environments; in which data files and applications are shared between a public and private cloud.

The most popular types of cloud computing services typically involve IT infrastructure, development platforms, and software.

Those looking to enter the cloud computing industry are recommended to undertake formal training. Having a recognised qualification under your belt not only verifies your expertise for prospective companies, it also demonstrates your initiative, and ensures employers of a skillset that’s up-to-date, industry standard, and competitive.

While training in general cloud computing foundations are important, however, professionals are also encouraged to get certified under a leading cloud provider. This includes the three major players: AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, each of which offer a variety of high-paying certifications. Expertise in a specific cloud environment can further your opportunities among businesses partnered with these vendors, ensuring them that you “speak the same language”.

Finally, building a substantial cloud portfolio (from both your training and work experiences) is crucial. Having a collection of all your previous cloud-related projects – as well as reputable references – can help prove your skillset, experience, and innovative vision to prospective employers.
